by order of the Goverment of Czech Republic, supported by the Ministry of Culture of Czech Republic, the National Technical Museum is from 11th March closed for public, including study a research rooms. Also all special programmes and guided tours are canceled as well as other events.

This exhibition of National Technical Museum presents while using breathtaking installation the technology used during totalitarian eras between 1939-1989. We present tools and objects that were used by political regimes as well as the tool used by its opponents to fight for freedom. Among 140 exhibits we can see confiscated items used for trespassing the state borders, tools used by STB (State secret police) for watching regime dissidents or musical tools used by underground bands.

During national holidays and important anniversaries, the National Technical Museum offers a special reduced admission price of CZK 50 per person. Reduced admission prices apply year-round to the NTM’s main building located in Prague’s Letná district. They also apply during in season opening hours at the NTM’s Building Heritage Centre, Plasy (Centrum stavitelského dědictví Plasy) and at the NTM’s Railway Depositary in Chomutov (Železniční depozitář Národního technického muzea v Chomutově). Reduced admission prices do not apply to tours of the Ore and Coal Mine exhibition at the main NTM building (surcharge: CZK 50 or CZK 30).

"Glory of Amateur Photography” exhibition pays tribute to photographers organized in Czech photo-amateur clubs. Since its birth, amateur photography has signifi cantly infl uenced the development of Czech photography, its application, meaning, and form. Amateur photographers practiced photography as a hobby, but devoted a lot of time and energy to this noble pastime. their work was often excellent for its time. Yet the vast majority of authors have been forgotten and their photographs have largely been lost. This exhibition is a reminder of a major era of Czech photography.

EXHIBITIONS

18.2. - 31.5.2020 - V. J. Rott department store -180 years since the establishment of the business

The National Technical Museum commemorates the 180th anniversary of the establishment of the V. J. Rott department store. This renowned Prague shop, founded in 1840 by Vincenc Josef Rott, was known throughout the Czech Republic for its wide range of metal goods, various household and craft equipment. The exhibition recalls the history of the Rott family, the establishment of the company and the operation of the shop and introduced a small sample of specific items from Technology in Home NTM exposition.

4.3. - 20.9.2020 - Next station: Museum of Railway and Electrical Engineering NTM

The National Technical Museum has prepared an exhibition presenting the future Museum of Railway and Electrical Engineering NTM.
The new museum will be opened on the premises of the former locomotive depot at Masaryk Station in Prague in 2028.
The exhibition will acquaint visitors with the architectural study of the museum, the history of the premises and, above all,
the intention and future exhibits of the upcoming exhibitions. NTM.

 

27.11.2019 - 30.8.2020 Jawa Phenomenon - Jawa, How You Never Seen It

Exhibition of National Technical Museum "Jawa Phenomenon - Jawa - How You Never Seen It reminds its visitors 90 years of production of this famous motorcycle producer, which significantly influenced motorcycle production. We display fifty motorcycles, car, race trophies and driver's equipment mostly from private usually publicly inaccessible collections.

27.11.2019 - Václav Kasík – wheels, dreams and reality

This exhibtion of National Technical Museum was made on the opportunity of 90th anniversary of the day when Václav Kasík was born and on the 15th anniversary since he died. Václav Kasík - exceptional personality of Czechoslovak industry.Above the drafted designs of cars Škoda and Tatra, made by Kasík in 60s we also present two types of ČZ brand motorcycles, developed in cooperation with fantastic designer František Pudil.
